Eames

I don’t know how I can ever write a design blog without mentioning Eames.
Charles Ormond Eames, Jr and Bernice Alexandra “Ray” Eames were the pioneers of modern design, and basically the founders of the “mid-centruy” modern look which is so popular today. They major contributions to modern architecture, furniture, art and design. Their unique synergy led to a whole new look in furniture. Lean and modern. Playful and functional. Sleek, sophisticated, and beautifully simple. That was and is the “Eames look.”
Most people will recognize the Herman Miller “Eames Lounge and Ottoman” which they designed in 1956, and is still in demand. Now, the Eames Gallery online has expanded to offer inspired designed products such as office supplies, clothing, home accessories and even toys.
It’s very inspiring to know that great design will always live on. A design critic once said that this extraordinary couple “just wanted to make the world a better place.” That they did. They also made it a lot more interesting.
