Meet Malary

Our Creative team is growing yet again! Allow us to introduce Malary Lee, The MOD Studio’s newest graphic designer. Malary hails from America’s Heartland but she’s made herself right at home in good ol’ Austin, Texas. Get to know more about Ms. Malary!

What inspired you to pursue a career in graphic design?
I’ve always been a creative person. I really like the idea of creating something from nothing. After I got a taste of graphic design I was hooked. It’s easy to get lost in something you love and design never felt like work – it was just fun. So that’s why I decided I wanted to do it for the rest of my life.

How would you describe your style?
My style is centered on typography. I really enjoy working with type and creating images from it. Along with type – the pen tool is my best friend. I love creating my own vector images.

Where do you find design inspiration?
I get a lot of my inspiration from online sources. I’m constantly looking at design blogs and websites to stay current and see what others are creating. If I see something I like or is relevant to what I’m working on, I save it. I look at websites designspiration.net, dribbble.com and thedsgnblog.com for inspiration.

What do you like to do in your free time?
I’m an outdoor person – so I really like exploring new roads on my motorcycle or taking my dogs to the dog park. I also like trying new food joints & lifting weights – so I can eat at all the food places!

You’re new to Austin, what’s been your favorite part so far?
Definitely the weather! I’m originally from Iowa and it’s already snowed a few times there. It’s really nice I can still be outside in a t-shirt. A close second is all the good food I’ve tried and the awesome people I’ve met.
