As the smart phone war heats up, more and more popular iPhone apps are being developed for other devices. On Tuesday, Instagram announced that it has finally published its Android application. Over 1 million Android users have already downloaded the app, and are ready to start snapping vintage style photos with their smart device.  While the app has been praised in some reviews, according to the Wall Street Journal, some reviewers are upset by the lack of photo filters not available on the Android version, and many have reported problems with the new app crashing.
Apple named Instagram the “Top App of the Year” in 2011. The popularity of the iPhone app leads to more than 30 million registered users uploading more than 5 million instant photo style images a day. Now with Android users joining in, those number are expected to dramatically rise. Instagram also recently created a partnership with rival app Hipstamatic to allow its users to upload photos directly to Instagram.
