The European term calligraphy means “beautiful writing,” and reflects an interest in ornamenting words on the page; most European calligraphy is highly stylized, regular, and decorated with flourishes, such as Copperplate, which was prevalent in the 19th century. Calligraphy continues to flourish in the forms of wedding and event invitations, font design/typography, original hand-lettered logo design, announcements, graphic design, and memorial documents as well as other forms of cartography and art.

Like most forms of art, calligraphy takes time and patience to learn. There are many calligraphy guilds and instructors around the world, even here in Texas.  There are even blogs devoted to calligraphy. Of course, The MOD Studio can also help with any calligraphy needs. Whether to enrich an invitation, create an inspiring logo, or construct a wondrous piece of art, calligraphy adds a sense of style and charm to any document on which it appears.
