5 Book Recommendations from MODintelechy Co-Founder & CCO, Maria Orozova
By Maria Orozova / Agency Culture, Marketing
Growth and mindset are key components to what makes us tick at MODintelechy. The desire to constantly and strategically improve — both individually and as a team — is in our DNA. Embedded in this, is the belief that you become what you think about the most, the thoughts and ideas you fill your mind with, and the people and communities you engage in. Books are no exception to this osmosis of becoming — through digesting the stories, anecdotes and lessons of those who inspire us, we are able to adapt similar thinking patterns and positive habits that get us closer to who we wish to become. And this is why curating what fills your mind and environment is so powerful.
We sat down with MODintelechy Co-Founder and CCO, Maria Orozova, to find out what books have had the greatest effect on her mindset and success as a mother, businesswoman and impactful leader in the Austin community and beyond.
Tiny Habits: The Small Changes That Change Everything
By BJ Fogg PhD
“The easier a behavior is to do, the more likely the behavior will become habit.”
This book was so simple, yet so impactful. It reminded me of the compound effect in everyday life; how each habit and detail of our every movement impacts the next. The key takeaway here is to extract a personality trait or habit you want to embody, make it small and create a way to fit it into your life. This removes pressure from the big, scary goals and habits that are too daunting to take on. When you start small, you can slowly own the becoming — and nurture the growth at a pace that feels feasible and fulfilling.
The Inner Matrix: A Guide to Transforming Your Life and Awakening Your Spirit
By Joey Klein
“Our inner matrix and the level of consciousness we embody define the experience that we have of each relationship in our lives.”
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in life is how the relationship you have with yourself becomes a template and reflection of all other relationships you form. Your inner world truly does create your outer world — your inner matrix is the blueprint for the manifestation of your reality. Klein does a phenomenal job in The Inner Matrix of guiding you through this journey of personal mastery for a life you love — both internally and externally.
The Ride of a Lifetime: Lessons Learned from 15 Years as CEO of the Walt Disney Company
By Robert Iger
“True authority and true leadership come from knowing who you are and not pretending to be anything else.”
Talk about a hallmark. This book shares how Iger brought magic to life during his time at Walt Disney. The lessons, triumphs, inspiration and value this book holds are beyond measure for any entrepreneur. It inspired me to step into the leader I am today and continue to grow and add value to all endeavors I touch.
The Upside of Stress: Why Stress Is Good for You, and How to Get Good at It
By Kelly McGonigal
“Stress happens when something you care about is at stake. It’s not a sign to run away – it’s a sign to step forward.”
One of the strongest soft skills of any leader is stress management. This book takes a whole new look at stress and will completely change the way you view and manage the pressure and heaviness stress can hold. You will learn that rather than being something to avoid, stress is simply an indicator of what you care about. By leaning into what matters to you, you are able to create a more meaningful life.
Immigrant Hustle: How 50 Entrepreneurs Came to America and Built Something Out of Nothing
By Amine Rahal
“Is the American Dream still alive? The stories in this book offer a resounding YES!”
{Shameless Plug} As an immigrant featured in this collection of stories, this book holds a special place in my heart. It is both comforting and motivating to hear the stories of immigrant entrepreneurs from all walks of life and how they are making their version of “The American Dream” a reality.
