Bookworm for Life

Kindle2

I recently acquired probably the worst thing you can give a bookworm like me, a Kindle Touch. Having not taken much time last year to read, or perhaps I was rather uninspired by what the best sellers had to offer, I had no idea the persuasive power of thousands of books at my fingertips. Since I opened that magical box, I’ve already read 5 books…in just over a week. Curious what’s had my brain racing?
1. The Hunger Games Trilogy:

I decided to give in to all the hype and give these books a whirl, I was hooked. Action, adventure, unrequited love and good overcoming evil against the odds, this series has all the makings of a classic tale.
2. Unbroken:
Unbroken
From the same author of the beloved, Seabiscuit, comes another story of underdog redemption. Young Louis Zamponi once a reckless, wild youth, finds his life purpose in running. He continues to smoke the competition and becomes an Olympic miler, unfortunately, his dreams are cut short when he’s drafted for WWII, where he will survive in a life raft on the Pacific for over 30 days, endure unbearable torture in Japanese POW camps and, ultimately, find an incredible story of redemption when he at last returns home.
3. The Sun Also Rises:
SunAlsoRises
A Hemingway classic that I’ve somehow managed never to read before. It is GREAT. Admittedly,  I had just seen Midnight in Paris for the first time prior to reading and was thus in the thick of ’20s Parisian fantasies, so jumping into a book opening in the same setting was, as expected, delightful. An exquisite journey into French evenings, Spanish bullfights and a twisted web of relationships without boundaries.
So what next? These two non-fiction titles are currently in my queue:
1. Susan Cain’s recent release, Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking
2. Blah Blah Blah: What To Do When Words Don’t Work
What about you? All-time favorite reads? Or surprised by recent bestsellers? We would love to hear on our Facebook Page!
